Devlog: Brain Fried
So basically I tried to combine side scroller and casual fighting game, and the result is...
I screwed up.
The reason? Where I need to begin?
Side scroller more emphasises on freedom of movement, the more freedom you have, the more great it feels. While the basic mechanics of fighting game more emphasises on footsies or whiff punish.
The first problem is, there's mechanics in side scroller called "Dash Cancel" and "Jump cancel". Without these 2 moves, the character movement will be super sticky and feels very slugish.
The second problem is, there's just too much button, so my button is: light atk, heavy atk, special, special Ex. Now I need to change the button into 3, Attack, Special, Special Ex.
The third problem is, when you attack, you need some momentum to keep player slide a little bit, not suddenly stops.
Now I need to adjust the game, and test it more.
My brain is fried.

Jadi kurang lebih seperti ini, side scroller itu bertumpu pada kebebasan bergerak, dan fighting game itu pada footsies, dan whiff punish.
Permasalahan 1, mekanik di side scroller ada yang namanya "Dash Cancel", dan "Jump Cancel", dash cancel ini ketika sebuah karakter melakukan serangan kemudian melakukan dashing, maka karakter tersebut akan melakukan dash di mid-animation. Buat lebih jelasnya coba google "zero hyper slash". Masalahnya game ini masih belum ada Dash Cancel Mechanic, sehingga karakter terasa berat.
Permasalahan 2, terlalu banyak button, jadi ada 4 button yang ada di dalam game ini, Light Attack, Heavy Attack, Special, Special Ex, permasalahannya terlalu banyak button membuat pemain canggung dengan gamenya, jadi untuk kedepan gamenya akan dibuat semakin sederhana sehingga mudah dimengerti, nantinya cuma ada 3 button, attack, special, special Ex.
Permasalahan 3, slide stop, dalam game side scroller, ada yang namanya slide stop, dimana karakter akan bergerak sedikit ke kiri atau kanan ketika melakukan serangan, bukan berhenti total.
Jadi saat ini ane harus meng-adjust gamenya supaya lebih mudah dimainkan.
